My Holiday Gift-Giving Ideas
For some great gift-giving ideas this season, we turned to style expert, author and mother Nina Garcia for a little inspiration. If you’re shopping for babies, hubbies and/or coworkers, consider this a fabulous jump start. —The Target Style Team
This gift is particularly near and dear to my heart, as I’m expecting a little one myself this December! A book is a great educational—and much appreciated—pick. Pat the Bunny is my own personal favorite. Playthings are always a fun choice, too—whether it’s a delicate little rattle, teething ring or plush toy. As a helpful hint, musical toys tend to go over well with tiny tots—though not necessarily with their parents! And when in doubt, a traditional layette set—which often includes a swaddling blanket, onesie, booties, a little hat or some combination of all of these items—makes a thoughtful, useful present.
Most men aren’t the biggest fans of shopping, whether for entertainment or sheer necessity. Use the holidays as an excuse to stock up on items your guy actually needs—new luggage or a fantastic piece of seasonally appropriate outerwear, perhaps. You can also go the entertainment route—a selection of classic books, a set of sports equipment or cooking gear such as a charcoal grill or accessories. And I have yet to meet a guy who will refuse a great gadget—whether it’s a laptop, set of speakers, iPad or portable DVD player.
Gifts for your office pals needn’t be extravagant, but they should be thoughtfully chosen. A DVD box set of the TV series your colleague can’t get enough of is a surefire great gift. Or, since all those hours spent toiling away can take their toll, offer your girlfriends luxurious bath and beauty items. Jewelry is another great gift option—simple stud earrings, a playful charm bracelet or maybe a set of stackable rings. I love the colorful stones and gold finishes of the Temple St. Clair for Target® collaboration line that’s out right now.
